Project Overview: 72kV Substation at QE6 (Q3N) In-Line Breaker – A Successful Partnership with GE Vernova

Dynamo is proud to share a recent project we completed at the QE6 In-Line Breaker Substation near Saskatoon, SK. This project, which involved both electrical and civil works, demonstrated our team’s ability to deliver high-quality results with precision and efficiency. We had the privilege of partnering with GE Vernova for the testing and commissioning of the 72kV breaker, ensuring a seamless process from start to finish.

Scope of Work

Our comprehensive scope of work covered multiple aspects of the substation construction, ensuring the highest standards in both safety and functionality. Key deliverables included:

✔️ Erection and Assembly of Electrical Apparatus
✔️ Flexible Bus & Fitting Installation
✔️ Fabrication and Modification of Steel Structures
✔️ Protection and Control Modifications for Breaker Replacement

Each phase of this project required a meticulous approach to ensure that every element was installed and tested to meet both regulatory standards and client specifications.

Site Remediation and Testing

In addition to our primary scope, Dynamo was also responsible for site remediation, addressing disturbances caused by the civil works. This attention to detail ensured that the substation remained operational and safe.

Once construction was completed, our team conducted ground grid impedance testing and worked closely with GE Vernova to complete the full testing and commissioning of the 72kV breaker. This final step was crucial for verifying that all systems were functioning properly before the energization of the substation.
