Midel EN 1204 Retro-Filling For NorSask Forest Products

Dynamo and NorSask Forest Products have been partners since 2002. As an active service partner with M&I Materials Limited (Midel parent company), Dynamo was able to drain and retro-fill the unit with the canola-based Midel eN 1204 natural ester fluid.

Midel eN 1204 retro-filling was selected since the original substation was constructed in 1966 and no longer met building and fire codes with respect to blast walls and fire prevention. The transformers are located within three (3) meters of the main facility structure and are consistently surrounded by flammable sawdust. Retro-filling T2 with eN 1204 natural ester fluids permitted up-rating of the transformer to a "K" class, which negated the need for new blast walls. This solution was the most economical for the customer.

Processing and vacuum-filling of the canola-based natural ester fluid were performed with the Dynamo Redragon vacuum oil processing unit, which is capable of processing mineral oil and natural or synthetic ester fluids.
