Custom-Built Digital Protection Panel Build

Many Dynamo team members contributed to this unique project. The custom-built digital protection panel was built to act as an electrical substation, creating simulations of real-life power system events for users. The panel boasts electrical equipment such as:

Merging Units:

-Merging Units allow for remote monitoring of CT

currents. Measurements can be transmitted 2km

or more via fibre optic. Extended-range remote

monitoring allows for large substations to be

controlled from a central location, increasing

efficiency and reducing costs.

Ethernet Switching and Gateways:

-Ethernet through fibre optic connects the entire

network, allowing data to flow freely between

redundant units. The Parallel Redundancy

Protocol allows for near-instantaneous switching

in a failure event.

Universal Relays:

-Universal Relays can be programmed to monitor

buses, transformers and generators. FlexLogic

allows for complex breaker logic to be

implemented completely in software.
