Phase-to-ground fault on a 138 kV Transformer Termination.

The SaskPower Cory Cogeneration Station experienced a phase-to-ground fault on a 138 kV transformer termination. The 138 kV cable travelling underground from the GSU transformer to the gas-insulated switchgear in the 138 kV E-house was also damaged.

Dynamo was called to investigate the cause of the fault and complete the repair. An NKT CD20 socket and the plug was installed on a new piece of 138 kV cable and terminated to the HV terminals on the GSU.

The new underground cable was cut back approximately 40’ and spliced in using an NKT SMPGB 170 cable splice. All work including acceptance testing was performed by Dynamo.
