Dynamo was, retained to remove an existing generator step-up transformer and replace it with a new 100 MVA generator step-up transformer at SaskPower’s EB Campbell Hydroelectric Station located on the Saskatchewan River near Nipawin, SK.
The existing GSUT had to be completely drained, pressurized with dry air, disassembled, and placed on a concrete pad in the yard. The transformer was then re-assembled and vacuum-filled. The new 75/100 MVA
3-winding transformer was installed on the pad, fully assembled, and vacuum-filled.
Dynamo’s field service staff then mobilized to the site to complete all SAT tests including:
Transformer turns ratio.
Winding resistance.
DC insulation.
10 kV power factor including excitation.
SFRA, pre-move, post move, and after installation.
Current transformers.
All protection and auxiliary devices.
