PROJECT SUMMARY:

Yara Belle Plaine Inc is a fertilizer manufacturer based in Regina, Saskatchewan and is part of the Yara International group of companies. It is one of the largest North American manufacturers of granular urea, anhydrous ammonia and urea ammonium nitrate in North America. The Belle Plaine facility is currently the largest consumer of natural gas in the province of Saskatchewan.

Dynamo was retained by Yara to field refurbish two (2) 25 MVA, 138 – 13.8 kV power transformers.  Work included removal and processing of the mineral oil to clean and restore its insulating properties.  All bushings, thermal wells, cooling radiators, and removable covers were removed, re-gasketed, and re-installed.  Full vacuum drying was performed on each of the transformers with vacuum oil filling and hot oil circulation.  A full set of electrical tests were performed and both units re-energized within one month.
