CLIENT:
International Cooling Tower
DURATION OF PROJECT:
3 Months
PROJECT SUMMARY:
Dynamo was retained to complete the electrical and instrumentation scope associated with a new cooling tower cell at the Yara facility in Belle Plaine, Saskatchewan.
The engineering scope included design of the interface between the VFD, DCS, and field devices; specification of the power and control cabling; programming of the VFD for the application; and producing a final report including new and updated as-built CAD drawings. Both extensive offline and online testing were performed to optimize operation and control of the new cooling tower.
The construction scope included installation of a new 200 HP VFD into Sub #1, a new operator station local to the motor, 225 meters of new 600 V / 3c 350 MCM motor cables, all control and communication wiring between the VFD and DCS, additions to the lighting and lightning systems on the cooling tower, and modification of the MCC feeder section with a new line reactor and door venting.
