PROJECT SUMMARY:

EVRAZ North America is a leading producer of engineered steel products for rail, energy, and industrial markets.  The EVRAZ facility in Regina has a long history dating back to 1956 and is presently the largest steel company in western Canada.  Here they make steel plate, coil, both small and large diameter pipe, as well as oil and gas well tubing for the energy sector.

As part of EVRAZ Regina’s SIF Project (which included a new 240 MVA, 138 kV Substation, twenty-four (24) sections of 15 kV GIS, two (2) 85 MVA Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) transformers, a new Static-VAR Compensator (SVC) system, and a protection and control system) Dynamo also provided a detailed HMI system that was customized for the client’s use.

Approximately five thousand (5,000) tags were used in the RTAC project, and eleven (11) detailed HMI pages were created. These pages incorporate all the metering data and status information, permissive signals, network connectivity, and specific alarm indication, and allow remote control of the electrical equipment.  All information is displayed on the built-in HMI client and can be accessed through any computer on the plant network using only a Google Chrome web browser.
