PROJECT SUMMARY:

Nutrien is a Canadian fertilizer company headquartered in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. It is the largest producer of potash and the third-largest producer of nitrogen fertilizer in the world. Nutrien produces and distributes over 25 million tonnes of potash, nitrogen and phosphate products for agricultural, industrial and feed customers worldwide.

Dynamo continues to provide onsite electrical engineering support for Nutrien Allan and successfully carries out Senior Electrical Engineer tasks for the facility. This success has translated into additional roles and responsibilities. Key tasks include:

·         Cable specification and sizing for 25 kV, 13.8 kV, and 600 V power distribution using ETAP and applicable standards.

·         Equipment specification support for underground electrical equipment including distribution transformer sleds, HV disconnect switches, HV switchgear sleds, MV distribution sleds and MCCs, and LV distribution sleds and MCCs, referencing the site ETAP model for short circuit information and loading requirements.

·         Creating protection settings for motor and feeder protection relays referencing the site ETAP model.

·         Performing Arc Flash Hazard and Short Circuit Study updates for the underground electrical system to keep up to date with site construction and expansion as well as future planning in ETAP.

·         Performing site power model updates in ETAP as construction occurs and borer units advance.

·         Complete electrical analysis of the 5-year mining plan to ensure that feeder loading is within limits and voltage levels are acceptable throughout the mine.  Where concerns arise due to voltage drops or overloads on feeders, plans are made and executed for such things as new feeder schedules, the addition of capacitor banks, or equipment upgrades ensuring the successful operation of the underground electrical system for the next five (5) years as the mine expands.

·         Assisting with planning the ongoing 25 kV underground distribution upgrades at site including: equipment specification creation, 25 kV switchgear design and planning, and power model updates for future mine planning to ensure required equipment upgrades are ordered and ready for installation when they are needed.
