PROJECT SUMMARY:
The T5 rectifier transformer at the Chemtrade Logistics’ plant in Brandon, MB had developed several moderate leaks over its service life resulting in an increased risk to the asset as well as potential environmental concerns.
Dynamo’s scope of work included the separation of the transformer from the rectifier, along with removal of all mineral oil, and re-gasketing of all flanged connection points including cooling radiators, inspection covers, and oil piping. An internal inspection was also completed at this time. The transformer was then re-installed and re-connected to the rectifier. The transformer was placed under vacuum and dried prior to filling with hot, filtered oil through Dynamo’s mobile oil processing unit. Once the transformer was filled, the oil was circulated to further condition the oil and transformer windings. A full set of electrical tests were then completed, and the transformer was back online within eight (8) days.
